Welcome to our website that we have created for your convenience.
CCSF Women's Fire Science Association is a peer support group at City College of San Francisco geared towards helping female students in their pursuit of a career in the fire service. We have weekly meetings on campus in Batmale Hall Room 222, or at the track, as well as guest speakers and field trips during the semester. We are also available to meet off campus during other hours - just ask!
If you're wondering who "we" are, we are all past / present CCSF Fire Science students that have completed the Fire Fighter academy at CCSF and have years of combined experience in pursing fire fighting careers - taking classes, tests, departmental interviews, and earning various certificates and degrees:

- Afara Lailand - Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy and has worked as an SFFD intern through the CCSF work experience program. Received her A.S. in Fire Science Technology. Is training with the new SFFD Fire Reserve class that will be graduating in April, 2015.
- Veronica Peña - Received her A.S. in Fire Science from CCSF in 2006, and her Fire Fighter I Certificate in 2009. One year cadet experience with San Mateo Fire Department in 2008. One semester of work experience at SFFD Station #43. Is a Reserve Fire Lieutenant with the SFFD Fire Reserve. Works full time as an EMT for ProTransport-1.
- Camille Wofford - Is a firefighter with SFFD. Graduated from the 115th Recruit class. Worked as a seasonal firefighter for CALFIRE as well as a volunteer firefighter with her local department. About to finish her A.S. in Fire Science Technology.
- Thalia Cronander - Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy and is working as a volunteer firefighter for the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department in Caroline County, Virginia. In the past she was an SFFD intern through the CCSF work experience program.
- Staycee Lee Is a probationary firefighter with SFFD. Graduated from the 117th Recruit class in December, 2014. Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy and was working as an SFFD intern through the CCSF work experience program. About to finish her A.S. in Fire Science Technology. Was a Reserve Fire Lieutenant with the SFFD.
- Deb Feehan - Is a probationary firefighter with Oakland Fire Department. Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy and worked as an SFFD intern through the CCSF work experience program. About to finish her A.S. in Fire Science Technology. Was a Reserve Firefighter with SFFD.
PREVIOUS MENTORS:
- Sherri Pelayo - Was an EMT / Supervisor for King American. Several years as a Reserve Fire Fighter with SFFD.
- Lorena Gutierrez - Has had multiple semesters of work experience through CCSF at various SFFD fire stations. About to finish her A.S. in Fire Science Technology.
- Isis Orellana - Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy. About to finish her A.S. in Fire Science Technology.
- Liz Bush - Graduated from the CCSF Fire Academy.
